Although experience is a relevant aspect for organizations when integrating new talent, there is a list of jobs that are open to hiring new professionals. Although this includes positions with an assistant or assistant level, there are also options such as engineers, data scientists and developers.

According to LinkedIn's First Job 2022 Barometer, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Querétaro, Monterrey and León are the cities with the highest number of first-time hires. From a regional perspective, the central zone of the country is the one with the greatest job offer for new professionals.

Although young people with little experience are traditionally hired in initial positions such as analysts or administrative assistants, in the last year LinkedIn reported a growth in the job offer in technology positions and areas that have become more relevant such as Human Resources.

Positions such as Java Software Engineer, iOS Developer, Data Scientist, Talent Acquisition Specialist, Information Technology Recruiter or Hiring Coordinator were the positions with the largest increase in employment of young people entering the labor market.

After analyzing the behavior of hiring in the last year, the 10 jobs with the most hiring of beginners are:

    Software engineer, in cities like Guadalajara, Mexico City, Monterrey and Torreón.

    Administrative assistant, in cities such as Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey and León.

    Analyst, in cities such as Mexico City, Monterrey, Querétaro, Guadalajara and Toluca.

    Graphic designer, in cities like Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Querétaro and León.

    Seller, in cities such as Mexico City, Guadalajara, Querétaro, Monterrey and León.

    Project manager, in cities such as Mexico City, Guadalajara, Querétaro, Monterrey and León.

    Sales specialist, in cities such as Mexico City, Guadalajara, Querétaro, Monterrey and León.

    Assistant, in cities such as Mexico City, Guadalajara, Querétaro, Torreón and Monterrey.

    Human Resources Assistant, in cities such as Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Querétaro and Torreón.

    Process Engineer, in cities such as Mexico City, Monterrey, Querétaro, Guadalajara and León.

The skills requested for these positions range from technical skills such as handling JavaScript or software development to soft skills such as teamwork, leadership, negotiation and strategic planning.

Tips for finding your first job

According to Computrabajo, about 20% of the vacancies in Mexico are aimed at professionals without experience, although an additional 40% are looking for people who have at least one year of professional experience.

“In general, getting our first job is always an interesting challenge, however, contrary to what one might think, in Mexico there are more and more companies that are betting on inexperienced candidates who they can train and develop, which without a doubt, it benefits in case the employee seeks further professional growth or a job change”, says Alejandra Martínez, head of Labor Market Studies at Computrabajo. In this sense, the specialist recommends that new professionals looking for their first job take into account the following advice:

Think about what and where you want to work

The fact that it is the first job opportunity does not mean that the activities carried out and the place where you work are not important. Ideally, from the beginning you seek to enter the desired industry to gain experience and have a greater chance of growth.

Check your CV

Not having work experience does not mean having a CV without impact, in these cases it is important to highlight the academic career, the skills developed and the extracurricular activities. On the other hand, it is also recommended to use keywords that fit the description of the job offer to which you will apply.

Use social networks and job portals

In addition to family and friend networks, job search platforms are an important tool to increase the chances of finding the first job opportunity, especially in the desired industry. It is important to activate job alerts and follow companies where there is an interest in collaborating.

Practice for the job interview

Before an interview, it is recommended to review the points that the candidate wants to highlight during the interview. Also, it is suggested to be  consistent with the position applied for, to have the CV printed, as well as a notebook to write down any information that may arise and do not forget to ask the interviewer a couple of questions about the company or the position.

Strengthens command of other languages ​​A foreign language such as English can be a prerequisite for joining an organization.
